RE039 The Story of the Shenfield Electrification 1949
NEW MARCH 2018. In September 1949 the Eastern Region of British Railways issued this 16-page card-covered booklet to mark the introduction of the new electric service from Liverpool Street to Shenfield.
They commissioned George Dow to write it, so it provides a quality history of this suburban service and of the works to electrify it. There are several black-and-white photographs, such as Maryland and Forest Gate stations during reconstruction, the interior of the new Bethnal Green signal box and the carriage sheds at Ilford.
The file displays the booklet as two-page spreads, and is word-searchable. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
