TER.DL: 'The Electric Railway' Vols. 1 to 4, 1946 to 1949.
NEW JULY 2020. The Electric Railway Society started publishing its monthly magazine in 1946. You are purchasing here a set of four files containing the first 48 editions which make up volumes 1 to 4, from January 1946 to December 1949.
The Electric Railway was a small booklet, roughly A5 in size, and each issue usually had just eight pages. Initially they were on good quality paper, illustrated with black-and-white photographs which were of a decent standard for the time. After the first two volumes, economies became necessary: the paper was much thinner, and the photographs eventually ceased. The contents remained of a high standard, however.
British electric railways were of course covered, especially the Southern and London Transport. Overseas developments were reported as well. A typical issue contained some comment, one or two articles, plus the latest news flashes and detailed and informative answers to readers' queries.
The volumes are also available separately as files MG007 to MG010 respectively. The description of each one gives more information on its contents. You will find them in Section MG. The first one of them is HERE.
The files are word-searchable and have bookmarks to the separate months. They will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
