MG009: 'The Electric Railway' Volume 3, 1948.
NEW JULY 2020. The Electric Railway Society started publishing its monthly magazine in 1946. This file contains the twelve editions Nos. 25 to 36 which make up volume 3, from January to December 1948. (You can if you wish purchase the first four volumes of it at a reduced price of £3.00. To do that, go to item TER.DL which you will find HERE.)
The Electric Railway was a small booklet, roughly A5 in size, and each issue had just 8 pages. The print is sometimes small but clear. Some black-and-white photographs of a decent standard for that time are included, but there are fewer of them than in volumes 1 and 2.
British electric railways are of course covered, especially the Southern, the underground and industrial railways. There is an article on the Central Line extension to Ongar. Overseas developments are reported as well: thus this volume includes illustrated descriptions of the standard gauge and narrow gauge railways of Switzerland.
A typical issue contains some comment, one or two articles, plus the latest news flashes and detailed and informative answers to readers' queries.
The file is word-searchable and has bookmarks to the separate months. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
