RR050 GER Rule Book 1904
NEW MARCH 2015. The Great Eastern Railway Rules and Regulations, issued 1 June 1904. Our member Chris Cock who scanned them reports something of a mystery, however. The date at the GER Printing Works is clearly stated as 1915: it was a reprint, but he has in his possession a 1909 rulebook which supposedly superseded this 1904 edition.
The original was a 192-page pocket book, which is displayed here two pages to a view. The file is word-searchable and has bookmarks added which take you to each of the main sections.
Topics featured include general rules; signals; the working of and the repairing of points and signals; station yard working; control and working of stations; working of level crossings; train signals; working of trains; trains stopped by accident, failure or obstruction; single-line working of a double track during repairs or obstruction; permanent way and works; the conveyance of explosives and other dangerous goods; and uniform time over the system. There is a comprehensive index at the back.
