NEW APRIL 2025.  The GER opened Liver;pool Street as a replacement for Bishopsgate in 1874. In 1895 they enlarged it and remodelled the track layout to provide new platforms 8-11.

What is on offer here are extracts from the magazine 'The Engineer' reporting on these developments.

First come two pages from the issue for 11 June 1875 entitled 'Great Eastern Railway Company's New Station at Liverpool Street'.  As well as an account, there is a drawing of the facade and a cross-section of the trainshed.  We have supplemented this with a plan of the early station, courtesy Wikipedia.

The remaining seven pages are from 1894 issues, covering a three-part series on the designs for 'the Enlargement of Liverpool Street Station, GER'. It has a historical survey of what led up to this, then a description of the new set-up due to be opened during the following year. As well as an overall plan of the proposed new station, the account goes into particular detail of the structure of the wrought ironwork which would form the roof.
