RH100: The North Eastern Railway - A Centenary Story.
NEW JANUARY 2025. The North Eastern Railway was created by the amalgamation of some smaller railways in 1854. In 1923 it combined with the G.E.R. and some other companies to become a constituent part of the LNER.
In 1954 British Railways decided to mark the centenary of the formation of the N.E.R. with this 36-page booklet, written by C M Jenkin Jones.
It describes the history and development of the railway, and contains two maps and several illustrations. Some of the important people involved are described. So too are the company's docks, their locomotives and the traffic they worked.
