NEW OCTOBER 2024. This publication gives travellers information of changes to the British Railways Eastern Region timetable dated 12 September 1960. These were to begin on 21 November 1960.

Some quite major alterations were involved, causing the book to run to 88 pages.  A big highlight was the inauguration of the completely new electric service from Liverpool Street to Chingford and Enfield Town on that day.

A fresh set of timetable pages is provided to cover this line.  At the same time a whole lot of other services were revised significantly, so their rew tables also appear in full. Such suburban lines include Palace Gates to Stratford and North Woolwich, St Margarets and Buntingford, and the LT District Line from Ealing Broadway on to Bromley and Upminster.

The Cambridge main line services were revised, firstly from Liverpool Street to Bishop's Stortford, then the complete line to Cambridge and on to Ely and King's Lynn. The opportunity was also taken for a full revision of many of the branches from Cambridge and Norwich, presumably a final bedding down of the new diesel services that had now replaced steam.

These include Norwich to Ely, apparently now condiered more a branch than a main line.  .Other lines given here in full are  Audley End to Bartlow; Marks Tey to Cambridge; Cambridge to Bedford; the Mioldenhall branch; Cambridge and Ely to Ipswich; Cambridge, St Ives and March; Ely to Peterborough; March to Wisbech and Lynn; Lynn to Hunstanton; Thetford and Swaffham; Wymondham to Dereham, Wells and Lynn; and Norwich to Lowestoft and Yarmouth. .
