RH060 Extracts from the Railway Yearbook for 1904 and 1905
NEW FEBRUARY 2018. G A Sekon used to publish an annual Railway Yearbook. This file consists of 118 pages of extracts from his 1904 and 1905 editions - a time when he was also editor of the Railway Magazine.
As well as detailed current facts and figures relating to all the railways of Great Britain and Ireland, he included a report about each railway separately which listed the Directors and Officers, followed by a historical sketch. The ones included here are those for the GER (whose first page was unfortunately missing from the copy of the 1905 book that was scanned!), the GN&GE Joint, the Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast, the M&GN, the London Tilbury and Southend and the North London Railway.
Other features include an eleven-page glossary of railway terms (which had only got as far as A to G at that stage, but still tells you plenty about things such as badge porters and fly shunting), a sixteen-page railway officers' "Who's Who" and a list of the colours of engines and rolling stock.
The file is word-searchable, with bookmarks to each of the main sections. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
