RG050: The Railways of Tottenham, 1946.
NEW MARCH 2022. This is the book 'The Railways of Tottenham', written and published by G H Lake in April 1946.
It is a hardback book with almost 100 pages. The copy scanned is an ex-library book, a bit grubby and liberally stamped in several places, but nevertheless complete and readable. Appropriately, its previous owners were the Tottenham Public Libraries.
There are interestingly-written chapters entitled general history; a description of the railways; incidents and accidents; train workings; and some closing notes. He ends with four appendices: some notes on the Tottenham and District Gas Company's internal transport system; signal boxes; opening and closing dates; and air raid incidents 1940-1944.
In true George Lake style, he includes what he calls his pictorial section. This amounts to twenty pages of the best-quality paper available in that time of rationing, containing thirty-seven sepia-style photographs.
