RG063: The Wells-next-the-Sea branch.
NEW MARCH 2024. This file contains an illustrated article on the Wells branch which first appeared in the 'Railway World' for March 1965.
We have provided a lot of extra information - the article itself is six pages long, but the complete file runs to 27 pages. The original article generated some quite informative correspondence in subsequent issues, the final letter appearing in December 1965. They are all included and so too are timetables for the line from 1882, 1930, 1949 and 1960.
For good measure we have added five photographs from our sales catalogue. You will also see a scan of the carbon copy of the report written by the Fakenham station foreman on the day in 1931 when he witnessed the only fatal accident on the branch. There are personal memories of the Norwich-Wells trains in steam days. The account concludes with the text of a letter written by a Norwich guard in 1959 to Mr Lawn, the Stationmaster there, describing the insanitary conditions on the 06.29 DMU to Wells!
The file is word-searchable and has bookmarks to its main sections. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
