LM066: Driving Instructions for various classes of locomotives, BR 1978.
NEW SEPTEMBER 2022. This 16-page paper-covered booklet was issued by British Rail as its issue 5 in 1978. Grandly entitled 'Driver's Manual', it gives driving instructions which cover a range of locomotives - classes 20, 25, 26, 27, 31, 37, 40, 45, 46, 47, 50 and 56 (including for the last named class variations for locomotives recently introduced).
It covers such topics as starting the engine, moving in yards and depots, attaching to a train, changing ends, reversing the locomotive, and operating the automatic slow speed control when fitted. The final page is a table for a locomotive standing in a station, describing the instances when the engine may be left running. The booklet contains no illustrations.
