Afternoon All,
With being a university student, Budget for model railways has always been tight. Hence, I've turned to virtual railway modelling. It is essentially for me, a better version of railway modelling, as, Once you learn the nessecary skills, the sky is the limit. You can model any railway in the UK, in any time period, with no space limitations and you get to drive the line for yourself, at the controls of the loco! The game in question also supports advanced modding, so you can "scratchbuild" buildings, locos and stock and have them in your recreation.

With all this in mind, in 2020, bored in lockdown, i stated the freeware development group Traction Studios to develop 3rd party downloadable content for others to use. One of the first projects i have embarked on is "Ipswich Dockyards", a Recreation of the vast lower yard and numerous Rail served Quays set in the 1950s. This was done by "Backdating" and existing commercially avaliable product, the Great Eastern Mainline. This route was set in 2012, with the lower yard and Quay all ripped up, and Croft Street Loco shed Obliterated by housing developments. So it was a case of deleting all of this scenery, and rebuilding all of the lines. The route has taken about 4 months from its inception in late 2020, and is nearly ready for release to the public.

The line features a backdated Ipswich station, Croft Street loco Depot, the afformentioned lower yards and Quays, and the Ransomes and rapier factory situated on the western bank of the New Cut river.

When released to the public, you will be able to drive the GER C53 / LNER J70 on the route, that and the class 04 being the only locos in game that could currently run "legally" on the docks! (Note however this is avaliable as a seperate purchase from the company Digital Traction.)

Look forward to your feedback, as n doubt there will be some members here who remember Ipswich in its heyday!
Regards.
Brad.
