2018 Half Yearly Meeting
THE HALF YEARLY MEETING of the GERS will be on Saturday 20th October 2018, in St. Georges Church, Chesterfield Road, Cambridge CB4 1LN
The planned programme (subject to confirmation) is as follows:
09.00 Hall opens for setting up.
10.00 Meeting opens. Time to buy your raffle tickets, GERS sales items, second hand magazines/ books/ videos etc.
10.40 Chairman opens meeting.
10.45 Talk by Rob Shorland-Ball on Cambridge Station. He is the author of ‘Cambridge Station : Its Development and Operation as a Rail Centre’.
12.15 Lunch break. Sales stands open, Buy your raffle tickets.
13.20 Society announcements.
13.30 Presentation by Andy Grimmett entitled ‘Industrial Railways in East Anglia’’.
14.30 Refreshment Break.
14.50 Raffle draw
15.00 Talk by Adrian Sutterby, Chairman of Friends of March Railway Station, on March Station.
16.00 Final circulation and clearing up.

RAIL:
Remember that the nearest station is Cambridge North
Please check with Journey Planner nearer the day as at present (August) a lot of services are shown as “we cannot confirm whether this service will run and some additional services maybe missing from the Journey Planner”
On arrival at Cambridge North Station walk across the forecourt and catch a Citi2 bus (every 10 minutes) to the Golden Hind Public House (which is on the right) stop. Cross Green End Road which has a Coop on the corner which sells sandwiches. Continue along Milton Road until you reach Fraser Road and turn left. At the end of the road turn left into Chesterfield Road and the church is ahead. (Bus journey 7 min, walk 10-15 mins). Returning to Cambridge North use the bus stop in Green End Road (Coop side).
PARK AND RIDE:
Check which P&R service uses Milton Road and get off at the Fraser Road stop.
ROAD:
If coming from Cambridge then travel along Milton Road and turn right into Fraser Road. If coming from the East then turn right into Fraser Road. You can either park in the street near the Church or, if space, use the small Church Car Park.
