2016 Half Yearly Meeting

The next HALF YEARLY MEETING of the GERS will be held on Saturday 15th October 2016, in the Marks Tey Village Hall, 158 Old London Road, Marks Tey, Colchester, CO6 1EJ.

The planned programme (subject to confirmation) is as follows:

09.00 Hall opens for setting up.

10.00 Meeting opens. Time to buy your raffle tickets, GERS sales items, second hand magazines, books, videos, DVDs etc. Refreshments will be available all day.

10.55 Chairman opens meeting.

11.00 Presentation by Mark Baker on ‘Captain Fryatt - The Martyr of Bruges’. (see note).

12.00 Lunch break. Sales stands open, Buy your raffle tickets.

13.15 Society announcements then presentation of the 2015 Harry Jones Award.

13.30 Presentation by Mike Stanbury on ‘The Sudbury Branch’.

14.30 Refreshment Break.

14.50 Raffle draw.

15.00 Presentation by Bill King on the ‘Tendring Hundred Railway’.

16.00 Final circulation and clearing up.

From Marks Tey Station it is a 10 minute level walk to the venue. Turn right out of the station entrance and walk along Station Road until you reach a roundabout. Cross over a walk along Coggershall Road and turn left into Old London Road and the Village Hall is on the right. If you are coming by car the venue is just off the A12 (see map below) and car parking is available just outside the Hall.

Engineering Work . Major engineering work is taking place at locations between Liver-pool Street and Witham. There will be no service between Liver-pool Street and Witham/ Billericay and passengers should use the replacement buses between Witham/ Billericay and Newbury Park

If you require sandwiches then from the station cross the road and walk over the A12 and turn left and on the right there is a sandwich shop that is open until 1230 so it may be better to purchase before you arrive at the hall.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Mark Baker will also be displaying his exhibition on Captain Fryatt in an adjoining hall. The full exhibition was shown in Harwich from 23rd to 31st July 2016.
