NEW MARCH 2017. This booklet was issued by British Railways (Eastern Operating Area) to come into operation on Sunday 27 April 1952. It replaced the whistle codes in the LNER Southern Area General Appendix of November 1947 (file RR018).
It has sections on standard whistles (eg express train requiring fresh engine at next stopping place), on what it describes as 'special routing etc whistles' (eg Spooner Row box - down freight train requiring water at Wymondham), and on local whistles.
