NEW OCTOBER 2017. This is an article which appeared in the Railway Magazine for June 1919. It was entitled 'Fenchurch Street, Great Eastern Railway' and was part of their series on Notable Railway Stations and their Traffic.
The piece was written by J F Gairns. It describes the history of the station and the arrangements between the GER and the LT&SR. It deals with its structure and layout, including the use each platorm was put to. It concludes with an account of its signalling and staffing.
The article is illustrated by five of Mr Gairns's own photographs. In addition there is a woodcut of the station in 1857 and a portrait of the current station master, Mr A J Green.
There is no map or plan of the station, so as a bonus an extract from the 25" O.S. map of 1916 is added at the end. This is taken from file MP010, which is one of three files covering the London, Tilbury and Southend lines.
