NEW MARCH 2017. Barnwell Junction was on the edge of Cambridge, where the Mildenhall branch left the main line to Ely. The GER had a station of that name there.

This file starts with the plan of Barnwell Junction produced by the GER in February 1908 as their map No. 31122, initially drawn to a scale of 1 chain (22 yards) to an inch. It shows the trackwork and buildings, and indicates the limits of the GER property. It is suitable for viewing on screen, but the resolution is not sufficient to print it out full size - you could of course print it out at A4 on a 'fit to printable area' setting: this works, though the detail will be rather small.

The second page of the file has photograph No. 17008 from our photograph collection which is available separately. The picture is undated, but is from the late 1950s or early 1960s.

Following that come seven pages of correspondence from 1922/1923 between the GER/LNER and the British Petroleum Co. Ltd. ("Purveyors of motor spirit by appointment to HM the King"), who had just had a new siding laid at Barnwell Junction.
