NEW JULY 2020. The Electric Railway Society started publishing its monthly magazine in 1946. This file contains the twelve editions which make up volume 1, from January to December 1946. (You can if you wish purchase the first four volumes of it at a reduced price of £3.00. To do that, go to item TER.DL which you will find HERE.)
The Electric Railway was a small booklet, roughly A5 in size, and an issue had just 8 pages. The paper is of a surprisingly good quality, considering that this was immediately after the War. The print is small but clear, and black-and-white photographs of a decent standard for that time are included.
All types of British electric railways are covered - the big companies (such as the Southern, the LNER's quayside line at Newcastle and the Liverpool-Southport branch of the LMS), the underground systems and industrial operations. Overseas developments are reported as well.
A typical issue contains some comment, one or two articles - often illustrated - plus the latest news flashes and informative answers to readers' queries.
The file is word-searchable and has bookmarks to the separate months. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
