NEW MAY 2020. The first part of this file consists of a 14-page card-covered booklet issued by the British Railways Board entitled 'Railway Electrification'. It is undated but must have been either 1980 or 1981. Its purpose would appear to be to keep its own management informed about the current state of its plans: the cover is marked 'Rail Manager Special', and its style is similar to that of their Management Quarterly publications (as in file RC049). It contains a map showing the options being considered.
The final four pages are what looks like a message to the general public by Sir Peter Parker, the BR Chairman, with the heading 'Now it's the age of the Electric train'. It came out in July 1981, and includes the full text of the Statement to the House of Commons on 22 June 1981, by the Secretary of State for Transport.
The file shows two-page spreads, has bookmarks to all the sections and is word-searchable. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
