NEW APRIL 2016. These scans are of a 48 page card-covered booklet published by the Eastern Region of British Railways. It is undated but seems to have been from around 1959. Aimed at the general public, it provided a progress report on the Modernisation Plan as it applied to the Eastern Region. It is illustrated with no fewer than 83 black and white photographs.
The sections are entitled Modernisation forges ahead; the Choice of Motive Power; Electrification on the Main Lines; Servicing and Maintenance; Passenger Travel; Freight Services; Aids to Efficiency; Continental Services; and Shaping the Future.
