RG025 The Felixstowe branch
NEW OCTOBER 2017. This is an article from the Railway Magazine of February 1921 by J F Gairns, entitled 'The Felixstowe Railway'. It summarises the history of the line, then describes the route and the train services as they were at that date. It is accompanied by nine photographs whose reproduction was of a poor technical quality (typical of the immediate post-war period), but nevertheless they are of interest since all except one were specially taken by Mr Gairns himself and convey a sense of immediacy. There is a shot of the GER vessel 'Pin Mill' leaving the harbour and another of the Felix Hotel (which is the one not by Mr Gairns). The rest show station scenes - at Westerfield Junction, Derby Road, Orwell and Felixstowe Town and Pier.
