TW077: LNER Working Timetables for the GE area, summer 1942.
NEW DECEMBER 2023. This must be quite a rarity to have survived - a working timetable from the middle of the War. Doubtless very few such publications would have escaped being recycled. This copy is in the possession of the Brewster Centre @ the Colne Valley Railway, and our thanks go to them for willingly agreeing we might offer it in our Files Emporium, and to our members Nick Ellis and Bill King who made it possible.
The schedules came into operation on Monday 4 May 1942 'until further notice'. It covers the country lines of the GE Section - both the Cambridge and the Colchester Main Lines and their associated branches. You can see all the lines included HERE. Its 92 pages deal with passenger and parcels workings, but not freight which was in a separate book..Surprisingly for that date it lists restaurant car services, a few of which were still being provided.
The file is word-searchable and we have added bookmarks to all the main sections. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
