FLX.DL: Felixstowe Town Station in 1974 as a Download.

NEW FEBRUARY 2022. In 1974 Felixstowe Town comprised only a single line which extended all the way to the original buffer stops of platform 2 - the route had not yet been truncated, and the present development for retail use and parking was still to come. The station buildings all remained, but were fast becoming derelict.

This was when Keith Halton and his late father Ken carried out a survey, and the results of this provide the main part of what is on offer here. You get 14 scale drawings (which can each be printed out on A4 paper) and 61 black-and-white photographs. As well as the actual station they show the goods depot, a small hut in the goods yard, the stationmaster's residence and the taxi office.

You receive several bonus files as well. One is a complimentary copy of file MP021 - large-scale plans of the whole of the Felixstowe branch. There are also some examples from our photograph sales listings covering Felixstowe Town, Beach and Pier. During the original survey an amazing find in the goods shed was abour 400 old consignment notes from 1904, and a small presntation on those is included here - a survey of a hundred of them done at the time by Ken Halton, giving a glimpse of the goods activity back in GER days, and pictures of a few of the other 300 or so which remained on a spike until they were removed very recently to be photographed.

What you are purchasing here is a download providing the complete contents of a CD. It comes as a zipped folder.

This folder will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.

To access the separate files, the zipped folder will first have to be 'unpacked'. With a Windows-based PC right-click on the folder to produce a menu and from it select 'Extract all...' or 'Unzip...'. Other operating systems will have their own method, but all will be able to cope.
